On a foggy November morning, volunteers from Flipkart headed to a government school in the Bengaluru suburbs. Their main aim? To spend a day with the students and help make the school campus, often vandalized and misused, conducive to learning. This effort, conducted in partnership with the NGO Nirmaan, is one of many initiatives of the Flipkart Cares CSR program.
Men and women who are seldom in the spotlight, but work day and night — they are the supporting pillars that make workdays at Flipkart a hundred times smoother. Flipsters spent the afternoon of November 18 expressing their gratitude to the heroes behind the scenes — Flipkart’s support staff. As part of Flipkart’s Month Of Giving, they switched roles to serve Flipkart support staff a sumptuous special Oota (Kannadiga festive lunch)
Did you know that the ability to unlearn might be what got you to where you are today? And that it may be the very thing that will help you grow in life, business and your career? No, we aren’t talking about forgetting. Unlearning is connected to understanding. The American author Isaac Asimov said it best: “I am not a speed reader. I am a speed understander.” Chief Learning Officer Stefaan Van Hooydonk is one Flipster who lives by these words. Schooled in Latin and Greek, and proficient in Dutch, English, Mandarin, German and French, Belgium-born Stefaan pursued his passion for Eastern and Western schools of thought, and attempts to apply both in his line of work. Unlearning, he swears, has stood him in good stead and guided him as he built from the ground up Flipkart’s exemplary internal knowledge management engine.
The multitalented are most often misunderstood. Even the phrase ‘Jack of all trades’ has a bit of a negative caveat. But Flipsters like Anand Vijayasimha are some of the few who flip the notion of ‘having one's fingers in many pies’. Music composer, busker, writer, organic farmer, motorcycle enthusiast and LP collector, Anand makes the most of every second. And his story is one that’ll surely make you reflect on how you’re using your 24 hours in a day.

Some give into an endless smile and some fall into deep tears. There are no real words to express the emotion of becoming a mother. In June, 2015 Flipkart launched a refreshed maternity policy to support their women employees and new moms, take better care of themselves in their journey to motherhood. A year later, the Flipkart Stories team brings back some precious moments and memories shared by the Mothers at Flipkart.
