Kollam is an idyllic place to grow up – our home is in Paripally not far from kadappuram (seaside). The great thing about living here is that we always have fresh seafood. Every morning, local fishermen bring in their catch, and I enjoy going to the beach to get some of it. Nothing beats the taste of fresh seafood dishes!
I live here with my parents, my twin brother, and both our partners. My parents both work as LIC agents while my wife is an accountant. She’s studying for the Public Service Commission (PSC) examination and I have high hopes for her success.
After finishing my 10th grade, I did a polytechnic mechanical course. I worked as a supervisor in a company in Kollam and then went to Kuwait for two years for better job opportunities. Unfortunately, I lost my job during the pandemic and had to come back.
During the lockdown, I saw a job posting for a Flipkart Wishmaster on social media, and my brother was also looking for work. So, both of us applied and got the job.
I’ve been working as a Flipkart Wishmaster for 2.5 years now.
I used to work at the main hub in Kollam and later moved to the Paripally hub. It’s a positive and friendly environment, and I’ve formed strong friendships with other Wishmasters and team members.
Every week, once work is done, we find a convenient day to play football or cricket together. It’s a fun way to bond. We also try to go out for lunch together.
We work well as a team, especially during the Big Billion Days (BBD) sale. We divide ourselves into groups based on the delivery areas and appoint a captain for each group. Each group aims to complete the most deliveries while keeping in mind safety, both for us and the packages. My team has won consecutively for the past 2 years. This activity raises everyone’s morale, ensures safe and timely deliveries, while making it fun during the busy season!
We also share our creative ideas to make work a fun, inclusive and informative space. For instance, we made a video on helmet safety ahead of last year’s BBD to reinforce safety measures for all the Wishmasters. It was a huge success.
On my days off, I spend quality time with my family. We often visit temples with my parents and my wife, and when we can, we also go to her parent’s place.
I live for the simple joys in life – whether it is creating day-to-day memories with my close ones or enjoying a good meal.
