Pappu Guchhaita made his way to Bengaluru from Odisha, where he found a promising career at Flipkart. Starting with no experience, he quickly rose to become a Data Entry Operator, mastering challenging situations during the busy Big Billion Days season. However, Pappu has more to his story. Read.
My name is Pappu Guchhaita, and I’m 24 years old. I come from Odisha. Life in my village was fun and carefree. My family is involved in agriculture, and I worked with them after completing my studies. But money was always tight. That’s when my cousin suggested I move to Bengaluru in search of better prospects, since I wanted to support my family financially. He works here as an executive in a company, and he got me started here at Flipkart.
I’ve been in Bengaluru for about four years now, and I’ve been with Flipkart for the last three years. When I first arrived, I didn’t have any work experience, but I learned quickly. I started as a senior assistant, and now I’m a Data Entry Operator (DEO). It’s a big responsibility, managing pickers on the floor and ensuring things run smoothly.
We handle a lot of orders, especially during the Big Billion Days Sale (BBD). I remember my first BBD – it felt like the orders would never stop. We managed around 3 lakh orders a day, and it was an energetic environment. It taught me how to handle challenges and manage a team.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing online games. It’s my way of unwinding. I also play cricket with other colleagues here at the fulfillment center. Once a year, I make the long journey back to Odisha. It takes about 24 hours by train, but it’s worth it to see my family – my parents and two sisters, one of whom is still studying in college.
I didn’t study beyond 12th grade in school because of financial issues. But now, I’m happy with my work and the life I’ve built here in Bengaluru.
