For Indian Air Force veteran Ikramullah Khan, retirement presented the perfect opportunity to fulfill his aspirations of becoming a businessman. Here’s how he navigated the challenges that came his way and gave wings to his entrepreneurial dreams as a Flipkart seller.
Retiring from the Indian Air Force was just the start of veteran Ikramullah Khan’s second innings. After spending 20 years serving the nation and retiring as a Sergeant, this resident of Okhla, Delhi, knew that entrepreneurship was his calling.
For a few years after retirement, Ikramullah worked in private companies, but entrepreneurship was always his end goal. While his initial ventures of a restaurant and a retail business didn’t pan out the way he hoped, the veteran persistently worked towards fulfilling his dream.

His hard work and determination paid off in 2019 when Ikramullah registered a company of his own with the hope of leveraging e-commerce for success. Through Flipkart, “I found a platform where I could sell my products all over India,” he says, as he launched his sportswear brand in 2021.
At first, the veteran visited Delhi’s local markets to source athletic garments for men and women. To facilitate the business growth he wanted, however, he realized that increasing his product range and setting up his own manufacturing was the answer.
“This is a platform which does not have any age limit. All you need is passion and dedication and the drive to do something. Even investment is not a barrier as you can start your business with a small investment on Flipkart,” says Ikramullah.
Keeping abreast with market trends and sales on Flipkart with his account managers by his side, this proud veteran knows that even the sky is no limit to his success. “My Air Force experience has been useful in running and growing a business,” he says. A one-man-army, Ikramullah manages product listings, orders, inventory, packaging and dispatching all on his own.
“After retirement I did various types of work. My dream of becoming an entrepreneur, a businessman, could only come true with Flipkart,” says the #SellfMade Flipkart Seller, who’s living his dreams every moment.
