On July 26, 2017, Flipkart invited a few customers to experience a day in the life of India’s most exciting e-commerce marketplace. The contest required participants to tell us why they would like to experience how Flipkart works, in 100 words. On the final day, twelve lucky Bengaluru residents visited Flipkart for a customized grand tour. Here's an update from the event.

Yet, it was heartening to discover that online shopping has been the silver lining in their everyday battle for equality and acceptance. Through online shopping and artistic expression, Flipkart’s spirited and savvy customers from the transgender community are breaking the barriers of gender bias and asserting their right to be part of a more equal society.

And it is big not just considering the heft in investment and the fact that the decision is made not by one person but, in most cases, an entire family. Things get more challenging when one makes the purchase online, which a considerably less personal experience from the touch-and-feel intimacy of shopping at a physical store.
